Mississippi Park Connection
A case study
Mississippi Park Connection is a nonprofit partner of the US National Park Service, dedicated to preserving the Mississippi River and its surrounding parks. As one of the largest organisations of its kind, they engage the public through events, education, and conservation efforts.
I was brought in to redesign the event page for their annual “Picnic for the Park” fundraiser. The brief was to create a sleek, modern layout that reflected the event’s civic purpose while remaining warm and inviting. The primary goal was to make it easy for visitors to learn about the event, purchase tickets, and make donations.
Using Figma, I first explored layout options and visual treatments that matched the brand’s tone—blues inspired by the river, the sky, and the cityscape. The structure was designed to be clean and accessible across screen sizes, with room for future content expansion. Once approved, I implemented the full design in Squarespace, adapting it for responsive behaviour and long-term content flexibility.
The MPC team handled their own copywriting, so much of the page was initially left with placeholder text. My focus was on building a flexible framework that would support final content without requiring structural changes.
